Focused on the physical and emotional well-being of our student-athletes, and rooted in sportsmanship and personal accountability, the T.W. Josey High School Athletics Department supports and emphasizes the academic, athletic, and social growth of our student-athletes as leaders both on the field and in the classroom, while embracing the diversity of our school community and fostering a respectful culture that celebrates those differences to achieve great success.
Our school strives to offer as many sports as possible to both male and female students. In order for athletes to participate in daily practices and/or games, they must be present for at least four consecutive periods that day and have a completed sports packet on file. Additionally, students must meet all GHSA eligibility requirements. Eligibility begins once a student enrolls as a first time 9th grader.
- All incoming 9th graders are automatically eligible for the 1st semester.
- Students must maintain 2.5 or higher credits per semester AND meet yearly credits.
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS:
- End of first year 5 credits
- End of second year 11 credits
- End of third year 17 credits
Students who lose eligibility for not meeting these requirements at the beginning of the year may regain eligibility during the school year by accumulating the credits required at the end of a semester and by earning the required number of credits the previous semester.
Remember: Eligibility is lost or regained on the first day of the new semester.
